Migraines Aren’t Just in Your Head

Diane Lange of Columbia, Missouri struggled with migraines for over four years before trying acupuncture.

Like many migraine sufferers, she saw doctors and specialists and took a potpourri of medications to try to manage the condition. But she was still ending up in urgent care almost every week, and the side effects from the pain medicine were causing numbness in her feet and altered taste.

“It kept me from being able to live a normal life.”

During a visit to see an allergist, a nurse suggested that Diane visit Gina Butler at Acupuncture of Columbia. Diane said about her first visit,

“I didn’t know much about it (acupuncture). I didn’t know how big the needles would be or how it would feel. But it was a great experience . Gina made me feel very welcomed and explained things very well.”

After just a few visits, Diane was able to notice a difference in her health. Gina treated the symptoms of migraines as well as addressing the deeper imbalances causing the migraines. When Diane and her husband found out they were expecting a baby, Gina was able to tailor treatments to meet their needs throughout the pregnancy bringing healing in a way that was safe for both mom and baby.

“Gina is very determined to help you get in a good place.”

In addition to receiving acupuncture, Diane made significant changes to her diet, her medications, and even moved homes with the goal of improving her wholistic health. And it worked! Now, a year and a half into treatment, the migraines are much fewer and she’s able to use much less medication.

When asked what advice she would give to others suffering with migraines, Diane said, “Start.” Because there are many little things that affect your health. So take a look at your health and start taking it step by step.
