Remember when you were gleefully indulging in holiday treats and beverages thinking to yourself, “It’s all fine. This is a tomorrow self problem?”
Let’s talk about your options.
When it comes to problems with our gut, we tend to think about symptoms such as boating, constipation, and gas, but there is so much more that the gut can impact! Did you know that an inflamed, irritated gut can also lead to brain fog, fatigue, skin rashes, and depression? The gut not only serves to digest food and absorb nutrients, it has many other important jobs too. For example, it produces around 90% of the neurotransmitter serotonin, which has a profound impact on mood, sleep, and digestion.
It is easy to put our gut on this wrong track. Sources of inflammation such as sugary and fried foods, alcohol, smoking, stress, anxiety, and poor sleep (to name a few) can derail a healthy gut and lead to the cascade of unpleasant symptoms discussed above.
Thankfully, hope is not lost! There are several effective methods that can help get the gut back on track and keep it there! At Columbia Integrative Health, we take your gut health seriously. Following a thorough review of your symptoms and history, we create a customized gut detox and reset plan tailored to your situation, level of commitment, and long-term health goals.
Vitamin D3 (with K2) – “the sun vitamin” is essential for bone health, muscle movement, nerve connections to the brain, and immune system function. Vitamin D also helps regulate the gut microbiome, reduces inflammation, and supports the intestinal barrier. The primary source of vitamin D is from the sun (best viewed in the morning upon waking) but can be from fatty oily fish like salmon or a high-quality supplement. Talk to your doctor to determine the optimal dosing for you.
